COMMENTS: Reputed to be a difficult palm to grow; definitely not as easy as the kentias which it resembles apart from having a prominent crownshaft. The soil in its restricted native habitat has not been thoroughly studied, but may have a very unusual micronutrient composition.The seedlings have been found to be particularly demanding and difficult in the transition from using the food reserves of the seed, to existing on what the roots can extract from the substrate.
